2017/07/15

On 13 July 2017, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong paid a courtesy call on the First Lady of Ghana, H.E. Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo.

Ambassador Sun congratulated H.E. Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo on her work for the benefits of Ghanaian people as the First Lady of Ghana. Since the NPP government took office, Ghana has made positive progress in economic and social development and the society has taken on a new look, which is a clear demonstration of the strong leadership of H.E. President Akufo-Addo. The China-Ghana relations enjoy sound development momentum. H.E. Vice President Bawumia just concluded a successful visit to China and the practical cooperation between the two countries has yielded fruitful results. The Chinese Embassy in Ghana will actively support the work of the First Lady and make greater contribution to the social and economic development of Ghana.

H.E. Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo welcomed Ambassador Sun for her visit and said that the Akufo-Addo government is committed to creating a better life for the Ghanaian people. A new era has begun since the new government took office. The Rebecca Foundation is devoted to improving the interests of women and children of Ghana. She thanked the Chinese Embassy for the long-time support for the work of the First Lady and hoped that the two sides could conduct more cooperation in the future.

Earlier this year, Ambassador Sun paid a courtesy call on the Second Lady of Ghana H.E. Mrs. Samira Bawumia. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on youth employment, empowerment of women and poverty alleviation.
