Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Shi Ting Wang Pays a Courtesy Call on Minister Of the Western Region of Ghana

On November 2nd, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Shi Ting Wang paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Western Region of Ghana, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie. Both sides exchanged views on China-Ghana relations as well as the pragmatic cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador Wang thanked Hon. Afriyie for taking time to meet with him. He said that the China and Ghana had a long history of friendship. In September this year, the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo paid a state visit to China and attended the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). The leaders of the two countries reached important consensus on promoting China-Ghana relations to a new height. Ambassador Wang stressed that the Western region has maintained close cooperation with China and has achieved fruitful results especially in the field of energy and minerals resources exploration. China is willing to work with Ghana to actively implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries as well as the important results of the Forum of the Beijing Summit, encourage more Chinese enterprises to invest in the Western region, and hope that Ghana will effectively protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises and Chinese citizens.

Hon. Kwaku Afriyie thanked Ambassador Wang for his visit and stated that Ghana cherishes her friendship with China and is willing to deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields. Ghana highly appreciates the fruitful outcomes of the FOCAC Beijing Summit and will closely cooperate with China to implement the outcomes and the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries during the Summit. Hon. Afriyie expressed that the Western region is richly endowed with energy and minerals resources and welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in the Western region. The Ghanaian side is willing to provide more investment facilitating measures for Chinese enterprises, and will work hand in hand with relevant departments to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens in Ghana.
