Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Shi Ting Wang Delivers a Speech at China Europe International Business School African Culture Seminar
2019/07/13

On April 8, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Shi Ting Wang attended the welcome dinner of the EMBA Trainees of China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) Africa Campus and delivered a speech. More than 50 people attended the event including Prof. Dipak Jain, President (European) of CEIBS, Professor Ding Yuan, Vice President and Registrar of CEIBS and Professor Mathew Tsamenyi, Executive Director of CEIBS Africa Campus.

In his speech, Ambassador Wang recalled the development of China-Ghana relations and pointed out that Ghana was the second country in sub-Saharan Africa to establish diplomatic relations with China. The traditional friendship between China and Ghana is profound. The exchanges between the older generation of Chinese leaders and Dr. Nkrumah, the first President of Ghana are still relished by the people of the two countries. In recent years, China-Ghana relations have enjoyed good momentum and have achieved fruitful results. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo attaches great importance to learning China’s development experience. In 2018, President Akufo-Addo participated the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and paid a successful state visit to China, bringing new opportunities for the development of bilateral relations.

On the theme of “How Chinese Enterprises Operate in Africa”, Ambassador Wang firstly introduced the situation of China-Ghana cooperation and analyzed the historical opportunities and real challenges in the economic and trade cooperation between the Chinese enterprises and Ghana by combing his own experience of working on African affairs and residing in Africa. Ambassador Wang pointed out that Africa was the only continent in the world that had not been fully developed, but it has huge development potential and many opportunities. As China promotes the “One Belt, One Road” initiative, the prospects for China-Africa cooperation are limitless. Chinese enterprises can get a head start by coming to Africa earlier. Ambassador Wang hoped that Chinese entrepreneurs investing in Africa should have the aim to change Africa and affect the world. In daily operation, Chinese entrepreneurs should respect local customs and habits and exert positive influence on Africa through various means to bring modern management experience and business rules into Africa and making due contribution to building a closer community of shared future between China and Africa. Every little makes a mickle.

Vice President Ding Yuan thanked Ambassador Wang and the Chinese Embassy in Ghana for their strong support to the CEIBS African Culture Seminar. He said that as an international business school jointly established by the Chinese government and the European Union, China Europe International Business School has taken the lead in setting up a campus in Africa. In the future, it will continue to enter Africa, promote the creation and dissemination of management knowledge and strive to forge a new platform for China-Africa cooperation and exchange.

The CEIBS EMBA Student African Culture Seminar began in 2018 with the aim of promoting Chinese entrepreneurs to better understand Africa and seek trade and investment opportunities. Participants in the 2019 seminars come from fast consumer goods, manufacturing, finance, and senior executives from Internet companies such as Baidu and Alibaba.
