At the invitation of Rt. Hon. E. B. Sekyi Hughes, the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Mr. Jia Qinglin, Chairman of the National Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) will pay an official friendly visit to Ghana from 18th to 20th of April, 2007. The official group consists of chairmen of various committees of CPPCC, vice-ministers of foreign affairs and commerce from the Chinese Government and business entrepreneurs covered energy, engineering, technology and trade. H.E. Mr. Jia Qinglin will hold bilateral talks with Rt. Hon. E. B. Sekyi Hughes on the issues that the Ghanaian Parliament and CPPCC both interest in. H.E. Mr. Jia Qinglin will pay a courtesy call upon H.E. Mr. J. A. Kufuor, the President of the Republic of Ghana, and witness the signing of several bilateral agreements on economic and technological cooperation. H.E. Mr. Jia Qinglin will also attend a sod-cutting ceremony for the new office building of the Ministry of Defence which has been partly supported by the Government of the People's Republic of China. The Embassy of People's Republic of China believes that the forthcoming visit by H.E. Mr. Jia Qinglin will deeply promote friendly relations between the Parliament and CPPCC, accelerate the follow-up steps of the Beijing Summit of China-Africa Cooperation Forum and further enhance the close ties between the two great nations.
