Olympic Picture Exhibition opened in Accra

        On 14th May 2008, H.E. Ambassador Yu Wenzhe hosted an opening ceremony of the Picture Exhibition themed "Beijing 2008 Olympic" at the National Theater.

        In his welcome address, H.E. Amb. Yu Wenzhe thanked the Government and people of Ghana for their confidence and support to the Beijing Olympics Games. He said China cherished the opportunity to host the Olympic Games and the government and people were fully engaged in the preparatory work for Games.

"China is determined to host a high-level Olympic Games to realize the theme slogan ?One World, One Dream, that is the dream for peace, friendship and prosperity, the dream for a better future of mankind." Mr. Yu promised that Beijing and China would welcome athletes, guests and friends from all over the world with open arms, deep friendship and warm hospitality.

         Hon. Mr. Osei Bonsu Amoah, Ghanaian Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sports, addressed at the ceremony. He said Ghana was convinced the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games would be a success and Ghana fully supported the efforts of China in the build-up to the Olympic Games. "The Beijing Olympics will contribute a lot to the world and leave a unique legacy for both China and world sport as a whole." he said.

        The Deputy Minister also acknowledged the cooperation between Ghana and China over the past century and which continues to grow by the year. "We look forward to sharing experiences and learning from each other for mutual understanding between our two nations, particularly in sports and education."

        Benson Tongo Baba, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) praised China's contribution to the development of the Olympics in his address.

        Pictures at the exhibition show Beijing's history, culture, construction of Olympic venues as well as the whole nation's enthusiasm towards the Olympic Games. More than two hundreds guests are present at the opening ceremony, watching the promotion videos and pictures with great interest, and wishing Beijing Olympic Games a remarkable success.

        The three-day exhibition at the National Theater is open freely to the Ghanaian public.
