President J. A. Kufour yesterday signed a book of condolence at the Chinese Embassy in Accra in memory of victims of the earthqukae that hit the Chinese province of Sichuan last week. The earthquake, which measured 8.0 on the Richter's scale has killed more than 40,000 people and jnjured 245,108 others. President Kufour wrote: "I pay condolence to the bereaved nation of China on the calamity that has befallen the great nation through the loss of numerous citizens in the recent natural disaster."
On that day, the Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Ebenezer Sekyi Hughes, the Minister of Defence, Mr. Albert Kan-Dapaah and other government officials also signed the book of condolence at the Chinese Embassy.
