|CCS Donates Computers to Schools in Western Region of Ghana|
On 12 January 2011, the China Communication Services (Ghana) Limited (CCS) donated a batch of computers and accessories to schools in the Western Region. The handing-over was held in Chinese Embassy in Ghana. Present at the ceremony were H.E. Mr. Gong Jianzhong, Hon. John Gyetuah (MP), Minister of State at the Presidency, and Mr. Zhang Changzheng, General Manager of CCS (Ghana).
Ambassador Gong spoke highly of China-Ghana traditional friendship and practical cooperation in a variety of areas. He is especially pleased with the good momentum in bilateral cooperation after H.E. President Mills’ successful state visit to China last September. Ambassador Gong pointed out that, education is key to the development of all countries. China notes with appreciation that the Ghanaian government has made relentless efforts on education. We are willing to enhance exchanges and cooperation in the area of education for the sake of common development and prosperity.
Ambassador Gong praised CCS’ effort in support of the development of Ghana’s education sector, which manifests Chinese enterprises’ commitment to fulfilling of their social responsibility. Ambassador Gong expressed his belief that, with the deepening and expansion of China-Ghana cooperation, more Chinese companies will come to Ghana. He promised that, the embassy will encourage the Chinese companies and citizens in Ghana to do more in carrying out social responsibility so as to consolidate traditional friendship between the two countries and make contribution to a Better Ghana.
Mr. Zhang Changzheng introduced the company’s business operation in Ghana, and expressed his gratitude to the Ghana government and various sectors for their support to the company. He said that, as an international company in Ghana, CCS is fully aware of and committed to do its due part in fulfilling corporate social responsibility. In the future, CCS will undertake more social responsibility programs aiming at promoting socio-economic development of Ghana and friendship between the two peoples.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Western Region, Hon. John Gyetuah expressed heartfelt gratitude to H.E. Ambassador Gong Jianzhong and CCS on behalf of his constituency and the beneficiary schools, believing that, these equipment will go a long way to help improve the teaching conditions in the related schools. He said that, this is not only a support to the Western Region, but also a support to the “Better Ghana” Agenda advocated by H.E. President Mills. He is of the expectation that support to Western Region’s education sector from the Chinese government and enterprises will continue in the coming years.
