Wang Yi Meets with Outgoing Nepali Ambassador to China Mahendra Bahadur Pandey

On October 21, 2021, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Nepali Ambassador to China Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, who is leaving his post and returning to his country.

Wang Yi appreciated Pandey's positive contributions to the China-Nepal friendship, both as Nepali Foreign Minister and Ambassador to China. He expressed that China and Nepal have been friendly for generations and the traditional friendship between the two countries has been further enhanced in the joint fight against the epidemic. Both sides should work together to achieve new progress in bilateral relations and maintain regional peace, stability and prosperity.

Pandey said that he was honored to serve as Nepali Ambassador to China and witnessed China's success in combating the COVID-19 pandemic and sustained achievements in economic and social development during his tenure. The strong leadership, scientific planning and the governance philosophy of "people first" of the Communist Party of China are of important reference significance for developing countries including Nepal. Nepal is ready to stay committed to promoting Nepal-China friendship and the Belt and Road cooperation. Pandey hopes and believes that China will play a bigger role in international and regional affairs.

Wang Yi said that China has found a successful development path that suits its own national conditions, meets the needs of the people, and conforms to the historical trend, and that is the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics. China does not export development patterns and does not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries. At the same time, China is willing to share experience and strengthen exchanges with countries including Nepal. Wang Yi wishes Nepal's political stability, national unity and people's happiness, and greater achievements in national construction and development.
