Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong Attended the Celebration of Two Years' Operation of the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana

        On May 18th 2016, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong attended the Celebration of Two Years’ Operation of the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana and delivered a speech. Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana Professor Ernest Aryeetey, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute of the University of Ghana Dr. Mei Meilian, Ghanaian Director of the Confucius Institute of the University of Ghana Dr. Dzahene-Quarshie, representatives from Ghana-China Friendship Association, Chinese Enterprise Chambers, students and their parents also attended this event.

        In her speech, Ambassador Sun extended warm congratulations to the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana on two years’ operation, reviewed and affirmed the remarkable achievements that the Confucius Institute has made in teaching Chinese language and promoting Chinese culture. Ambassador Sun expressed gratitude to the support of the school leaders and efforts from teachers and volunteers of the Confucius Institute, and sincerely hope that China and Ghana would continue to strengthen cultural exchanges and jointly promote common prosperity and development.

        In his speech, Vice-Chancellor Professor Ernest Aryeetey spoke highly of Confucius Institute in carrying out its functions actively and providing students with scholarships to study in China, expressed thanks to the participants who played an important role in the past two years, and hoped that the Confucius Institute will be built into a world-class cultural center.

        Students from Confucius Institute performed traditional Chinese dance, songs and Opera during the celebration, which impressed the audience deeply and received waves of applause.
