Chinese Ambassador to Ghana Mdm. Sun Baohong Met with the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana

On 19th September 2016, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong met with the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu. Both sides exchanged in-depth views on China-Ghana relations, China-Ghana education cooperation, development of the Confucius Institute as well as Chinese language teaching.

Ambassador Sun gave a detailed briefing on the achievements of China-Ghana cooperation on education and other areas in recent years, and encouraged the University of Ghana to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China's tertiary institutions. Ambassador Sun said that the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana was awarded "Global Model Confucius Institutes", a hard-won honor that can't be achieved without the vigorous support from the University of Ghana and the hard work of the teachers and students. Ambassador Sun also wished Prof. Owusu success in his new position, and encouraged him to make new contributions to the development of China-Ghana relations.

Prof. Owusu recalled his personal experiences with China and the development of the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana, praised the great achievements of the economic development of China and China-Ghana relations, expressed his appreciation to the Chinese government and the Chinese Embassy in Ghana for the long-term strong support and help to the University of Ghana. He said that the University of Ghana wishes to establish partnership with the Chinese universities to strengthen the exchanges of the students and scholars, and enhance joint research. He spoke highly of the vigorous development momentum of the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana, believing that learning Chinese not only makes the students know more about Chinese culture, but also helps to solve practical problems such as employment. He emphasized that he will continue supporting the development of the Confucius Institute vigorously.
