Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong Attended the Dialogue Series of the College of Humanities of the University of Ghana

On 19 October 2016, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong was invited to attend the Dialogue Series of the College of Humanities of the University of Ghana and delivered a speech. More than 100 people including Provost of the College of Humanities of the University of Ghana Prof. Samuel Agyei-Mensah, Acting Director of the Centre for Asian Studies of the University of Ghana Dr. Lloyd Amoah, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute of the University of Ghana Dr. Mei Meilian, Japanese and South Korean Ambassadors to Ghana as well as teachers and students from the University of Ghana attended this event.

In her address, Ambassador Sun reviewed the history of the rising of Asian and African continents and Asia-Africa relations, introduced the achievements of China-Africa and China-Ghana cooperation in the areas of politic, economic and trade, people-to-people and cultural exchanges as well as peace and security. She pointed out that to develop China-Africa relations, we need to uphold the right concept of morality and benefits, speed up the transformation and upgrading of China-Africa economic and trade cooperation, continue expanding China-Africa non-governmental exchanges and cooperation on peace and security and improve the mechanism of Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

Ambassador Sun highlighted the inauguration of Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway and its milestone meaning for the development of China-Africa relations. She called on African friends to give full play to their own initiatives and participate in the current of China-Africa cooperation, encouraged think-tanks of China and African countries to strengthen studies of Asia-Africa and China-Africa relations, promote exchanges of experience on governance between China and Africa, actively offer advice and suggestions to uplift the China-Africa and China-Ghana relations to a new height. 

Teachers and students from the University of Ghana raised questions on the reform of UN Security Council, the role of China-Ghana cooperation in the economic transformation of Ghana, China-Ghana people-to-people and cultural exchanges, Chinese government scholarship policy, etc. Ambassador Sun answered the questions, and encouraged them to know more about China, learn Chinese culture and make positive contribution to the development of China-Ghana relations.
