On the 14th of November, 2017, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Ambassador SUN Baohong and Counselor JIANG Zhouteng of the Chinese Embassy attended the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship Award Ceremony at the University of Ghana and Wisconsin International University College and delivered a speech respectively. The Chancellors, representatives of the teachers and students of the two universities attended the ceremony.
At the ceremony, Ambassador SUN and Counselor JIANG congratulated the prize winners for their outstanding achievements and affirmed the two universities for their efforts in the teaching of Chinese language and the dissemination of Chinese culture. They also thanked the leaders of the two universities and Ghanaian from all walks of life who have attached great importance to and actively supported the teaching of Chinese language in Ghana. They introduced the recent achievements in China-Ghana relations as well as in the people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. China will strengthen solidarity and cooperation with other developing countries including Ghana guided by the principle of upholding justice while pursuing shared interests and the principle of sincerity, real results, affinity and good faith. Finally, Ambassador SUN and Counselor JIANG encouraged the Ghanaian students to study hard to help in making new contributions to the development of China-Ghana relations.
The Deans of the two Universities thanked the Chinese Embassy in Ghana for their strong support for the teaching of Chinese language in Ghana, and said that Chinese has already become a global language. In learning Chinese, it is very important to understand Chinese culture, learn from the successful experience of China's development and promote exchanges and cooperation with China. Both Universities will continue to attach great importance to the teaching of Chinese language and encourage more Ghanaian students to learn the Chinese language.
The prize winners expressed their greatest thanks to the Chinese Embassy for the Ambassador Scholarship Awards. This was an encouragement and affirmation for their learning of the Chinese language. They are enthusiastic about learning of Chinese language and will continue to study hard to make contributions to the development of the friendly relations between Ghana and China. The award winners also staged performances such as Shandong Allegro, Dance "On the water side", "A Grateful Heart" and Chinese song "Change Oneself", demonstrating outstanding skills of Chinese language. A young girl who was also awarded a scholarship warmly and cordially hugged Ambassador Sun. The ceremony was overwhelmed with a joyful and warm atmosphere.
