Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Shi Ting Wang Meets With Ghana's Speaker Of Parliament

On September 26, 2018, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Shi Ting Wang met with the Ghanaian Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Prof. Mike Aaron Oquaye. Both sides exchanged views on issues such as the China-Ghana relations, exchanges and cooperation between the two legislative bodies etc.. Majority leader of Ghana’s Parliament and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Minority leader Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, Chairman of the Ghana-China Parliamentary Friendship Association, Hon. Joseph Yieleh Chireh, and the Political Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Ghana Mr. Zhu Jing were present at the meeting.

Ambassador Wang thanked Hon. Speaker Oquaye for taking time to meet with him. He spokepositively of the traditional friendship between the two countries and introduced the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) as well as President Akufo-Addo's state visit to China. Ambassador Wang stated that China was willing to maintain close communication with the Ghanaian Parliament and jointly promote the continuous development of China-Ghana relations.

Rt. Hon. Prof. Oquaye welcomed Ambassador Wang to his office. He recalled the days when he pushed forward for Chinese companies to construct the Bui damas Minister of Energy and said that Ghana and China were old friends and have broad prospects for cooperation. Ghana will seize the opportunity of implementing the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of FOCAC and the President's visit to China to promote the bilateral relations to a higher level.
