Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Shi Ting Wang Attends the Awards Ceremony of Standard Chartered Bank "One Belt, One Road" Relay

On April 18th, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Shi Ting Wang attended the Awards Ceremony of Standard Chartered Bank Ghana Branch “One Belt, One Road” Relay and delivered a speech. Mrs. Mensah, President of Standard Chartered Bank Ghana Branch and all other senior executives, the heads of major Chinese-funded institutions and contestants from the United Kingdom, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, Uganda and other countries were present. On the same day, Mr. Zhu Jing, Political Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Ghana attended the launching ceremony of the relay at the University of Ghana. More than 1,000 players from China, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates and Ghana participated in the relay.

Ambassador Wang thanked the Standard Chartered Bank of Ghana for organizing the “One Belt, One Road” relay and said that in 2018, Ghana and China signed a Memorandum of Understanding on co-building the Belt and Road Initiative and formally joined the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, which marked that Ghana has officially become a member of the Belt and Road family. China and Ghana will actively promote the cooperation of large-scale infrastructure projects in the spirit of consultation, co-building and sharing. The 2nd Belt and Road Forum on International Cooperation will be held in Beijing in late April. Ghana will send a high-level delegation to the relevant sub-forum. Ambassador Wang was sure that the Forum would be a complete success and he looks forward to more friendly cooperation between the two countries.

Mrs. Mensah, President of Standard Chartered Bank Ghana branch said that Standard Chartered Bank Ghana Branch was honored to participate in organizing the first “One Belt, One Road” global relay. The network layout of Standard Chartered Bank in Asia, Europe and Africa is highly consistent with the “One Belt, One Road” relay route, and is a born partner of the “Belt and Road” initiative. Standard Chartered Bank Ghana Branch is one of the earliest branches to set up the “One Belt, One Road” counter. It firmly supports the “One Belt, One Road” initiative and will share the tremendous development opportunities brought by “One Belt, One Road” with customers.

Ambassador Wang presented awards to the winners and encouraged the players to make persistent efforts and make more contributions to the construction of the “Belt and Road”.
