CHINESE AMBASSADOR TO GHANA H.E. MADAM SUN BAOHONG MEETS THE GHANAIAN MINISTER OF STATE FOR PUBLIC PROCUREMENT

On February 21 2018, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong met with Hon. Sarah Adwoa Sarfo, Minister of State for Public Procurement of Ghana. Both sides exchanged views on the issues of China-Ghana relations, government procurement and anti-corruption.

Hon. Sarfo introduced the functions of Ministry for public procurement. She said that President Akufo-Addo attaches great importance to government procurement, and has set up the Ministry under the Presidential Palace with a view to creating a transparent, fair and effective government procurement system and to severely punishing corrupt officials, saving a lot of government expenditure for the country. Hon. Sarfo pointed out that China is an important cooperative partner of Ghana. The two countries enjoy close economic, trade and cultural exchanges. She hopes that China and Ghana can deepen their exchanges and cooperation in the field of government procurement.

Ambassador Sun congratulated Hon. Sarfo on assuming the position of Minister of State for Public Procurement and positively praised the ruling of New Patriotic government for the achievements made over the past year. Ambassador Sun said that China is willing to strengthen the exchange of experiences in managing state affairs and to carry out personnel training and cooperation with Ghana in the field of government procurement and anti-corruption. China has always called on the Chinese enterprises in Ghana to conduct business in accordance with laws and regulations and to score a success based on quality and technology.
