THE CHINESE AMBASSADOR-DESIGNATE TO GHANA H.E. MR. SHI TING WANG MEETS WITH THE GHANAIAN MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND REGIONAL INTEGRATION HON. MDM. SHIRLEY AYORKOR BOTCHWEY

On June 19, 2018, Chinese Ambassador-designate to Ghana H.E. Mr. Shi Ting Wang met with the Ghanaian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Mdm. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey who just returned from an official visit to China. Both sides exchanged views on Hon. Botchwey’s visit and China-Ghana relations. The Political Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Ghana Mr. Jiang Zhou Teng, the Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Mr. Samuel Kumah, as well as the Deputy Director of Asia & Pacific Bureau Mrs. Doris Richter were also present at the meeting.

Hon. Mdm. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey thanked China for the warm reception and thoughtful arrangements during her visit to China. She highly praised China’s great achievements since adoption of the reform and opening up policy. She also expressed her admiration and respect for the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) with General Secretary H.E. Mr. Xi Jinping as the core. Hon. Mdm. Botchwey said that her visit to China was very successful. She paid a courtesy call to H.E. Mr. Yang Jiechi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the Chief of General Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission. She also held talks with H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, the Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister. Both sides reached important consensus on bilateral relations and international and regional hotspot issues. Mdm. Botchwey stated that Ghana looks forward to working closely with China to jointly implement the relevant results of the visit.

Ambassador Shi Ting Wang congratulated Minister Botchwey on her successful visit to China. He noted that this visit was of great significance and has injected more impetus to the further development of China-Ghana relations. The Chinese Embassy will keep close communication with the Ghanaian side to actively implement the fruitful results of this visit and to make full preparation for President Akufo-Addo’s participation in the forthcoming Beijing Summit of FOCAC, and promote bilateral relations to a new level.

At the invitation of Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, the Ghanaian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey paid an official visit to China from June 10 to 15, 2018.
