Political Counselor of Chinese Embassy in Ghana Mr. Wang Sheng attended Asogli State Yam Festival 2015

On 19 September 2015, on behalf of Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong,Political Counselor of Chinese Embassy in Ghana Mr. Wang Sheng attended Asogli State Yam Festival (ASYF) 2015 at Ho in Volta Region.

During the event, Counselor Wang Sheng met with the Chairman of ASYF 2015 Committee Mr. Martin Ahiaglo. Counselor Wang sang high praise of the positive contribution made by Paramount Chief Hon. Togbe Afede XIV, who is an old friend of China, in promoting economic and trade cooperation between China and Ghana, and consolidating the traditional friendship between the two countries and peoples. He said, in order to sponsor the dropout students in the local community, the Chinese Embassy decided to donate to the Asogli State Educational Fund, hoping this modest donation could be conducive to supporting the development of education in the Asogli State. Mr. Martin Ahiaglo expressed deep appreciation for the support and donation from Chinese Embassy.

The ASYF is one of Ghana's notable festivals which has been celebrated for decades, and for the past 10 years, under the deadership of HRM Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli Traditional Area, the Festival has become a symbol of unity and harmony of local communities and is widely welcomed by the local people. The Festival functions include art performance, agriculture lectures, free medical consultation, clean-up actions and other public service activities.President of Ghana H.E. John Dramani Mahama, Minister of Chieftaincy and Traditional Affairs Hon. Henry Seidu Daannaa, Minister of Health Hon. Alexander Segbefia, Minister of the Volta Region Hon. Helen Adwoa Ntoso also attended this year's ASYF.
